A Word of Encouragement
From our Motiv8ing Ideas Archive
Encouragement is oxygen to the soul.
(Harvey Mackay)
A word of encouragement today can make an amazing difference to someone s tomorrow.
Perhaps today for someone is a struggle or a challenging situation; perhaps today for someone is the start of a period of uncertainty or anxiety; perhaps today for someone is the start of a new job, a new school term, a new year.
These are all situations where a word of encouragement can spark a new determination and extra motivation.
Of course, a word of encouragement is not just appropriate in times of challenge and change. A word of encouragement for someone who is performing or behaving well provides a motivation boost, a feeling of value, and is likely to result in continued good performance/behaviour.
So who do we know today that will benefit from our words of encouragement? A parent? A son or a daughter? A partner? A homeless person? A work colleague? A neighbour? A check-out person? A postman? ?
A word of encouragement today can make an amazing difference to someone s tomorrow !
To help the young soul, to add energy, inspire hope, and blow the coals into a useful flame; to redeem defeat by new thought and firm action, this, though not easy, is the work of divine man.
(Ralph Waldo Emerson)
