The Certainty of Change and Uncertainty
Change!
It's everywhere! ...more, faster, and impacting more of us than ever before.
For you it may be your job, perhaps new systems or processes at work, or maybe new neighbours or a changing neighbourhood.
With so much change around us, it is frankly impossible for us as individuals to be immune from personal change within us. That may mean developing new skills, new competencies, new relationships, or it may mean changing our outlook, our attitude, our behaviours, our habits.
Choosing positively to change is always a better option than 'having to' change. Often associated with 'having to' is resistance, de-motivation, and stress. Of course, 'choosing' change can be scary! So my (and your) first challenge this month is...
What changes to my skills, competencies, relationships, attitude, and/or behaviours, am I actually choosing to make at the moment?
Change, whether chosen or prescribed, brings uncertainty, and that's tough to deal with ...especially as we human beings generally prefer our comfort zones and stability!
With everything around us changing, and with us choosing to change ourselves, where's the stability, or the certainty, that we so hunger for?
Well, how about these as Foundations in turbulent times?...
Family Friendship Faith.
Strengthening our ties to these Foundations (preferably all three) strengthens our ability to live, survive, even thrive, in circumstances of change and uncertainty.
Change is certain.
Uncertainty is certain.
Certainty can also be certain,
and my (as well as your) second challenge this month, is...
What am I actually doing that is strengthening my ties to one or more of these Foundations of Family, Friendship, and Faith?
I'd be pleased to receive your e-mail with comments, suggestions, and/or experiences.
